Voltest UK EV battery testing
Understand Your EV Battery Health Report
Mileage and age do not reveal the full condition of a high-voltage battery. A Voltest assessment gives buyers, owners, sellers and automotive businesses clearer evidence before they make a decision.
What the report can include
Battery evidence you can understand and use
Available data varies by manufacturer, model, model year and software. Your report distinguishes between information retrieved from the vehicle and information that was not available during the assessment.
- Battery State of Health percentage
- Remaining usable battery capacity
- Recorded mileage
- AC and DC charging history
- Cell voltage balance
- Battery temperature information
- Estimated driving range
- Battery Management System reset indicators
- Remaining battery warranty information
- Vehicle recall information
- Voltest Trust Index and overall assessment
State of Health
See the battery condition—not just the dashboard range
State of Health, usually shown as SoH, indicates the battery’s assessed condition against the relevant new-battery reference. For example, an SoH result of 84% indicates that the assessment identified approximately 84% of that reference capability. It does not mean the vehicle will deliver 84% of its original driving range, because temperature, driving conditions and energy use also affect range.
The Voltest result provides evidence to support a decision rather than relying on mileage or displayed range alone.
Example Voltest State of Health result. Available data varies by vehicle.
Overall assessment
A clear result for buyers, sellers and automotive professionals
The report presents the principal battery result in a format that can be understood without specialist diagnostic knowledge. It can help a buyer assess a vehicle, a seller support its condition, a retailer strengthen a used-EV proposition and a fleet operator identify vehicles requiring closer attention.
The result should be considered alongside the vehicle’s age, mileage, service history, charging history and operating conditions.
Example battery assessment and Trust Index.
Usable energy
Battery capacity and available energy
Where supported, the report shows the energy available from the battery and compares it with the relevant reference capacity. This provides a stronger evidence point than dashboard range alone, which changes according to driving, weather, temperature and energy use.
Cell consistency
Cell balance
Where the vehicle provides the necessary information, Voltest examines differences between the highest and lowest cell readings. Material imbalance can indicate that further manufacturer-led technical investigation is appropriate.
Operating context
Charging history
Where supported, recorded AC and DC charging information adds context to how the vehicle has been used. Frequent rapid charging does not automatically mean that a battery is defective.
Test conditions
Battery temperature and diagnostic evidence
Battery temperature can affect performance, charging speed and test interpretation. Voltest records the diagnostic information available during the assessment. Warnings, unavailable readings or conditions affecting the assessment are identified in the report.
Commercial value
Why obtain battery evidence?
Buying a used EV
Compare vehicles more effectively, identify unexpected results and retain evidence of the battery condition at the point of purchase.
Selling an EV
Replace unsupported reassurance with current battery evidence that can be shared with prospective buyers.
Retail and fleet
Support used-EV preparation, customer confidence, stock decisions and longer-term fleet replacement planning.
The process
From compatibility check to digital report
Check compatibility
Confirm that your exact make and model is currently supported.
Book your test
Request two preferred appointment options. We will confirm vehicle compatibility, availability, location and the correct price before asking you to pay.
Complete the assessment
The technician connects the approved diagnostic equipment. Most appointments take around 30 minutes.
Receive the report
Your digital report is normally issued the same day following a successful assessment.
Frequently asked questions
What customers need to know
Is a Voltest report the same as an MOT?
No. An MOT assesses defined roadworthiness and environmental requirements. It does not provide a detailed assessment of high-voltage battery State of Health.
Does the report guarantee the battery?
No. The report records and interprets data available from the vehicle at the time of testing. It does not guarantee future performance or replace the manufacturer’s warranty terms.
Can every vehicle provide the same information?
No. Available information varies by manufacturer, model, model year, battery system and software version.
Can plug-in hybrid vehicles be tested?
Many plug-in hybrids are supported. Check the compatibility list for the exact make, model and battery version before booking.
How long does the assessment take?
Most appointments take approximately 30 minutes, although some vehicles require additional preparation or connection time.
Can I share the report when selling my vehicle?
Yes. It can be shared as evidence of battery data recorded on the test date, but it must not be represented as a guarantee or manufacturer-backed warranty.
